Consulting
I take fixed-scope consulting engagements across product, engineering, data, and customer delivery.
Remote-first; limited travel by arrangement. Fixed-scope work is preferred.
Advisory and workshops are available when they lead to a clear decision or deliverable.
01Ways to work together
Discovery and prototype sprint
Two to four weeks · fixed scope
For a team with a real workflow and an unclear technical path. I interview the people who
use or own the process, map constraints, choose the smallest useful slice, and build enough
software to test the decision.
You leave with: a working prototype, architecture
notes, open risks, and a sequenced production plan.
Production build
Four to twelve weeks · fixed scope
For a prototype, manual process, or integration that needs production ownership. I define
the contract, build the service and interface, instrument it, and hand it off with the team
that will operate it.
You leave with: deployed software, tests,
observability, documentation, and an operating runbook.
Architecture and delivery review
One to three weeks · fixed scope
For a system that is slow, fragile, expensive, or hard to explain. I trace the current
path, reproduce the failure modes, review architecture and delivery practices, and separate
immediate fixes from redesign work.
You leave with: a written assessment, prioritized
decisions, evidence for each recommendation, and a review session with your team.
AI engineering workshop
Half day, full day, or short series
For engineering teams adopting coding agents, LLM evaluation, MCP, A2A, or local models.
The workshop uses your constraints and ends with a reusable workflow instead of a generic
demonstration.
You leave with: working examples, evaluation
criteria, guardrails, and material your team can use after the session.
02How I work
- Start with the userI talk to the people doing the work before I settle on the architecture.
- Name the constraintFERPA, live-event load, a fixed runtime, messy source data, and outbound-sales policy have all changed systems I shipped.
- Show the decisionPrototypes, diagrams, metrics, and written tradeoffs make the direction reviewable before the expensive part begins.
- Leave an operating systemThe handoff includes tests, observability, documentation, ownership, and the failure modes the next team should watch.
03Selected engagements
Honey to Cocoa
Technical advisor · Pro bono
Advised the founder of a Techstars-backed beauty-tech company, managed work with a
contracted development shop, and reviewed a CIELAB-based computer-vision model for skin-tone
analysis, including its training-data and validation plan.
Mela AI
Technical advisor · Pro bono
Advised the CEO and COO and built a proof of concept that used a mixture-of-agents approach
to coordinate recommendations across five life-planning areas.
Nevados Engineering
Lead Software Engineer · Contract
Built geospatial processing and site-visualization tools for solar installations. The
system parsed survey point files, generated panel-rotation schedules, and reduced runtime by
23%.
Squared2020
Contributing Engineer · Pro bono
Built the ingestion pipeline and interactive application for NBA Running Net Points. It
counts actual possessions from play-by-play data, processes uploads through AWS Lambda and
Redis, and serves results from Postgres through a Flask API. Open the deployed application.
I will tell you whether I am a fit, what I would need to learn first, and the smallest engagement
that can produce a useful result.
